"Black & White Party" at Ayr Racecourse, 05-02-11 |
|
Thursday, 03 February 2011 |
|
SMiSA has learned that in honour of the Scottish Cup 5th Round tie between Ayr United & St. Mirren at Somerset Park this Saturday, 5th February, Ayr Racecourse are staging what has been billed as a "Black & White Party" for fans of both clubs.
The doors to the Eglinton Stand open on Saturday at 12 noon and the event will go on until 2.45pm so that both sets of fans will be able to make the kickoff time at 3pm with the stadium very close to the course (approx 2 mins walking distance). Bars, betting and free parking facilities are available, and children are welcome. There will also be 'Giant TV's tuned in to the sports channels and food will be available.
As part of the event, the Racecourse are planning to donate a cheque to the Ayr United Supporters Trust (Honest Men Trust) and they have also kindly made an offer to St. Mirren of donating raceday hospitality packages for the club to have as website competition prizes.
All told, this venture should add to what will hopefully be an exciting cup trip for Saints fans this weekend. |

Reaction from SMiSA Chairman to New SPL Reconstruction Proposals |
|
Thursday, 20 January 2011 |
|
Following the statement this past Monday 17th January that there is "broad support" from SPL clubs to progress with reconstruction plans to have a top flight of 10 teams with a second tier of 12 teams, SMiSA Chairman Alastair Colquhoun's reaction was as follows:
"It is very disappointing that this opportunity to arrest the steady decline of Scottish Football has been missed.
"The proposals ignore the views of fans as expressed through the Supporters Direct poll and other channels and will do nothing to make the product more attractive to the paying public who are already voting with their feet as illustrated by the growing sea of empty seats at SPL grounds.
"Businesses who continually turn a deaf ear to the wishes of their customers are unlikely to have a prosperous future."
A formal vote has yet to take place on the proposals, with any vote to change the SPL structure requiring a 10-2 majority to be successful. |

SMiSA Committee meet with SPL Chief Executive, Neil Doncaster |
|
Saturday, 15 January 2011 |
|

On the morning of Wednesday 12/01/2010 at Hampden Park, SMiSA Chairman Alastair Colquhoun & Webmaster David Tennant met with SPL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster to discuss and debate the proposed SPL reconstruction plans. The meeting, which lasted over 90 minutes was, we believe, extremely useful and productive in gaining further insight into the plans on a number of fronts, as well as an opportunity of putting the concerns that St. Mirren supporters and indeed that fans of other clubs have about the proposals.
What follows is a detailed report of the meeting for the benefit of all St. Mirren supporters. |
