A common misconception is that you have to be a member to do something with us. This is simply not true as there are many different ways that you can help SMiSA achieve its aims and objectives or better function as a supporters trust without ever paying a monthly contribution.
SMiSA has the power to co-opt 2 members onto its board from outwith its membership in order to do specific tasks. These could be anything from helping to run and improve this very website, to working to help improve St. Mirren’s standing within the local community.
Furthermore, those individuals who presently own shares in the club itself can, if they wish, sign over any voting rights they have to the trust in order for it to carry greater influence in direct club affairs.
Another way you can help is volunteering some time/assistance at one of our functions. At the recent Hugh Murray Testimonial Quiz Night & for the 'Design a Poster' Exhibition there were numerous people not associated with SMiSA who pitched in to help make the events a success and they would not have been without their help and assistance.
If you feel you have something you can add to the association then please get in touch.
We are also willing to accept donations, which can be sent to us via cheque/postal order at this address: SMiSA However we must stress, please DO NOT send us cash through the post. You can also collar one of the board members at Love St most home games and they will be happy to take a donation and put it towards our fund, for any purpose you care to specify. SMiSA are also open to people who wish to become a patron of the association. To discuss this please email our chairman, Alistair Colquhoun.
But it goes without saying SMiSA would not be anywhere without its members and we are always looking to attract more. Our minimum contribution currently stands at £10 per month, or about the same cost as a pint a week. You can of course, contribute more if you wish and some of our current members do indeed do that. To download an application form to join us, please click here.
Finally, we are always open to constructive suggestions, whether they come from our membership or outside of it. If you have an idea that you would like to take to us which you think would make SMiSA better and/or help make a reality for the benefit of the club and its supporters, then please do let us know. We are always happy to invite visitors to the association’s board or general meetings to discuss any such ideas further and in more detail, regardless of their scope. |
