Name:
John
White (The Whiteman)
Role: Community
Ventures
Age: 50
Initially
taken to Love St. at the age of 7 and played in the sand at the Caledonia end
while the adults watched the game, taken again at the more mature age of 11 on
a regular basis ( had outgrown the sand period by then ). Earliest match day
memory of going to Falkirk in a packed football special from Gilmour St. and
Alex Ferguson scoring to knock us out of the Scottish Cup.
Joined
SMISA because I believe in the principle that fans should be encouraged to own
shares in the club they support, and I couldn’t afford the minimum bulk price
of approx £250 at that time. Even though I personally don’t own shares I am
happy to contribute to the purchase of shares in the club for them to be held
collectively for future saints fans to have a stake in St.Mirren. I also think
the current custodians of St.Mirren need as much help as possible to ensure the
future success of the club (even though they don’t realise
they need it).
I lead
the sub-committee for community ventures within SMISA and strongly believe in
the principle that the club is the community and vice versa, all Saints fans
should be striving to ensure the future prosperity, and identity, of both
St.Mirren and Paisley and district.
