General SMiSA News

A Message to All Supporters...

After yesterday evening’s result, we have secured our place in Scotland’s top flight for another season.

While there is relief in retaining our Premiership status, the reality is that we came extremely close to losing it - and with it, the financial stability, opportunities and profile that come with being a Premiership Football Club.

Moments like this serve as a powerful reminder of why fan ownership matters.

As a majority supporter-owned club, St Mirren is protected by the people who care most about its future. SMiSA was created to safeguard the long-term future of our football club, ensuring that supporters will always have a voice and that decisions are made with the best interests of St Mirren at heart.

Football will always bring highs and lows. The 2025/26 season has delivered incredible memories alongside difficult moments, but fan ownership gives our club stability through both. It means that regardless of results on the pitch, St Mirren remains accountable to its supporters and rooted in the community that has carried it through generations.

The collective backing of our members has helped secure the future of the club and continues to strengthen our ability to compete at the highest level possible. The stronger SMiSA becomes, the stronger St Mirren becomes.

Now more than ever, continued supporter involvement is vital. If you believe in protecting the future of our club and strengthening supporter ownership at St Mirren, please consider joining SMiSA today.

Together, we can continue building a sustainable, supporter-owned future for St Mirren Football Club.

SMiSA Board Applications

We have scheduled SMiSA's Annual General Meeting this year for Tuesday 21st April 2026 at 7pm. It will take place within the hospitality suite at the SMiSA Stadium, and all members are eligible and welcome to attend.

The AGM will look back on what has been achieved in the past year as well as ahead to 2026/27.

The AGM notice, including our annual accounts, will be issued 14 days prior to the meeting, along with your invitation to vote on all AGM business. A link will also be included within this notice so that you can register your attendance if you wish to attend the 2026 SMiSA AGM (in-person or online).

The AGM notice will include the election of the SMiSA board. As it stands, four of the nine places will be vacant and will be open for election as per our rules. Five elected members will continue to serve for at least another year as none have reached three years on their current term. They are Dougie McMahon, David Mackenzie, Stuart Hamilton, Jim Cumming and Paul Gilligan. SMiSA board members Alex Dillon, Stuart Chawk and Jack McSkeane have reached the end of their three-year term and will step down. Alex, Stuart and Jack are eligible to apply to be re-elected to the SMiSA Board, along with any other candidates who put themselves forward.

HOW TO APPLY

Any SMiSA members who wish to put themselves forward for election to the SMiSA board can do so now. Board members are expected to attend fortnightly meetings (held on Monday evenings) and make a meaningful contribution, both in terms of their time and the quality of their input.

Anybody who would like to stand should email [email protected] and request an application form. You will need to be nominated by two other SMiSA members and have been a member for at least 90 days prior to the date applications close which is Monday 30th March at 5pm.

You will also need to submit a 500-word statement explaining why you would like to be elected and submit a photo for the election page on the SMiSA website. Voting will run for ten days from April 7th, with results announced at the AGM.

Fan Ownership Day - Saturday 21st February 2026

Saturday’s William Hill Premiership match against Motherwell is about more than just what happens on the pitch.

It’s Fan Ownership Day - a celebration of how far we’ve come since becoming majority fan-owned in 2021, and a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together in the future.

Thanks to the incredible backing of supporters through SMiSA, St Mirren is proudly majority-owned by its fans, and this weekend is all about celebrating that shared success and inspiring more Buddies to Be in that Number.

St Mirren Chief Operating Officer Keith Lasley said: "We're excited to be celebrating fan ownership at this weekend's match against Motherwell. With both clubs being majority fan-owned, Saturday is the perfect opportunity for us to recognise the benefits of fan ownership and acknowledge the significant contributions SMiSA have made and continue to make to the growth of our club."

Celebrating Fan Ownership

Fan Ownership Day shines a spotlight on the role supporters play in shaping the future of our club. Through SMiSA’s Build the Buds campaign, over 90% of all SMiSA member subscriptions are invested directly into St Mirren FC and associated organisations - helping strengthen the club on and off the park.

And this Saturday, you’ll see fan ownership brought to life across the entire matchday experience.

What’s Happening on the Day?

Mascots Leading the Way

Fan ownership starts with the next generation…

  • 11 Junior Buds will proudly lead St Mirren out onto the pitch.
  • Joining them will be 11 Junior Steel members from Well Society, representing another fan-owned club.

A brilliant moment that celebrates supporter power across Scottish football.

SMiSA – Your Matchday Sponsors

SMiSA are proud matchday sponsors for this fixture.

This sponsorship is made possible entirely through member contributions - and the funds go straight back into growing your football club.

Hospitality Experience

A table in hospitality has been reserved for SMiSA members. Winners have been selected via a draw which was open to all Standard and Plus members.

Meet SMiSA Around the Ground

Supporters can meet the SMiSA team before kick-off:

  • Visit the SMiSA gazebo outside the Main Stand (weather permitting)
  • Ask questions about membership
  • Sign up on the day
  • Collect your SMiSA pin badge if you haven’t already

You’ll also spot SMiSA board members around the turnstiles - always happy to chat about how you can help Build the Buds.

Half-Time Challenge

At the break, enjoy a special:

St Mirren v Motherwell ‘Spot the Ball’ Face-Off

Three Junior Buds will take on three Junior Steel members in a fun fan-ownership showdown.

  2. Do you approve or disapprove of the proposed governance changes, including re-approval every four years and an eight-year maximum term for SMiSA’s club board directors?

To pass, each motion will require a two-thirds (66.67%) majority of votes cast, reflecting the importance of these decisions for SMiSA’s future direction.

💬 Join the Conversation. Shape the Future.

This is a pivotal moment for both SMiSA and St Mirren Football Club. Your input, ideas, and questions matter - whether you’ve been part of SMiSA for years or are simply a Buddie who is interested in hearing what it's all about.

We encourage all supporters to attend one of these sessions, find out more about The Way Forward, and help us continue to build a sustainable, supporter-led future for our club.
