Saints Aid 6 - Event Takes Place!

Image

On Sunday, 20th May 2007, 2 teams of fans took to the field at Love St to participate in the 6th annual Saints Aid event.

The final score after 90 minutes of action ended up as 9-3 to the home side, though the away team comprehensively won the penalty shoot out held shortly after the match, which saw all the players in both teams take one at the Love St end of the ground.

Unfortunately with only days before the event was to take place, St Mirren's managerial duo, Gus MacPherson & Andy Millen had to pull out of the event.  This was due to the club booking a holiday for the players after they secured their status in the SPL with the 3-2 win at Fir Park, which unfortunately clashed with the commitment for Saints Aid.

However all was not lost as on the day, ex-Saints Ricky Gillies & Steven McGarry stepped in to take charge of the home and away teams respectively.

SMiSA Player Of The Year Event

On Saturday 19th May, following what was a lacklustre end to the season with a final 1-0 loss at home to Inverness Caley Thistle, and during an equally lacklustre FA Cup Final, Saints fans packed out Suburbia in Shuttle St, Paisley for SMiSA’s Player of the Year event.

The event was well attended by the players themselves as well, including Kirk Broadfoot, Hugh Murray, David Van Zanten, Ian Maxwell, Kevin McGowne, John Sutton, Billy Mehment and many others, as well as both of Saints’ dynamic managerial duo; Gus MacPherson & Andy Millen.

Saints Aid 6 - Managers Pull Out

Sadly, we have had some bad news as regards the Saints Aid 6 event this Sunday. SMiSA were contacted by the club yesterday and informed that both Gus MacPherson and Andy Millen have, unfortunately had to withdraw from Sundays Saints Aid event.

The reason given is the club by way of rewarding the players for staying in the SPL have organised a holiday abroad for the team and management and this clashes with the Saints Aid event.

To say we are bitterly disappointed at this turn of events is an understatement however we are endeavoring to find suitable replacement coaches for the day and will keep you informed as we conclude this.

We considered cancelling the event but have decided to proceed and try to fill the team manager's positions.

If you have any immediate concerns about the above please contact us.

Thank you

SMiSA Player of the Year Event - Venue Change!

ImageAs you may have heard already on the SMiSA Forum, this Saturday's Player of the Year event has been moved from Fury Murrays to Suburbia on Shuttle St, Paisley with the start time remaining at 4pm.  All tickets sold for Furys will be honoured at the new venue.

The change of venue was forced as a result of the travel clubs who had committed to attending the event (Cockles Wilson, Jolly Buddies & Chivas) all had plans to allow U18s in their membership to attend the event, something which Furys could not do under the terms of their license.

We can confirm however, that tickets are still available and will be on sale at the door for those who do not already have them.

With Saints now secured in the SPL for next season, it will surely be a great event so please come along!
